on the mood

of the ocean may be
enough to impose order
momentarily–

a perfect stanza–

with the largest wave
arriving oddly 3rd, 5th or 7th.
Unpredictably, a rogue sweeper may swell up

and wipe out
the whole line-up of waves—

smashing their careful rhymes
and arithmetic to bits.
